Hey Dave. I just found this site when i looked up "Quentin Hulse". I need to hear the tunes in question! It's me, the former Elizabeth Beckler of Horse Camp way up in the Gila. Also former neighbor of Quentin. Gonna have to look into these books and songs. Hope you're doing well and glad to see you are still making the music. I am still in contact with Ms. Teresa Beall and get up to the old neighborhood when I can.

I recently met your son Tris and he was telling me about your band and your music. Once I found out he could play and sing I made him play me a couple songs. He was so amazing! So I did a little searching and found your website and now I realize where he got so much talent. I just love your song clips, the songs are so passionate and real. They remind me so much of my own life. I really appreciate you keeping country music real and wholesome.

"Light on the Mountain" strikes a deeply resonant chord in me because I'm writing a book about Quentin Hulse, the subject of that haunting, evocative plainsong Dave wrote.
Its plaintive tune and occasionally rhymed lyrics are fitting tribute to Quentin and the country he roamed, capturing his quiddity, the land's, its winter shadows, and the promise of redeeming light.

I may be rough, and full of sinnin',
but this I'm thinking as I ride,
a baby boy came to the darkness,
and led some shepherds to a light.
The light, the golden light,
that led them as they came,
up from the darkenss, just like me.
Merry Christmas, Bing.
